The 363 Project is a volunteer organization that was started with the intention of helping the less fortunate, and more specifically the hungry people, in the Twin Cities. After spending 32 years as a Junior High teacher in Minneapolis, Allen Law began spending his time handing out sandwiches to the Twin Cities’ homeless population. At first he was asking gas stations for their unsold sandwiches to hand out, but now he recruits the help of individuals and groups that are willing to donate their time and money in the name of making sandwiches. While addressing some volunteers, Law recently said, “I call it the 363 Project because there are lots of people who want to help the homeless on Christmas and Thanksgiving, but what about the rest of the year? That’s where we come in.”
Over the course of two days, Hosanna Lutheran Church and it’s volunteers made over 40,000 sandwiches. Many of the sandwiches were immediately handed out around the Twin Cities, with the rest being frozen to be handed out at a later date.
Shooting this event was a blast. I met some great people who all made an effort to have fun while doing their part. I don’t want to smell bologna or cheddar cheese for a long time!
